Fellowship and Session #5 Goals

The Executive Fellowship in Advanced MIGS and Endometriosis Care (EFAMEC)is designed along the lines of the “Executive MBA” – a curriculum, schedule, and cost designed for the active professional, who cannot take time away from their work and/or family to enroll in a full-time training. It is a program designed for the focused adult learner – relevant, practicable, and professionally transformative.

This being Session #5 of the Fellowship, the curricular goals for the three days will be focused on further refinement of surgeon facility in instrument handling overall and laparoscopic suturing and knot-tying in particular. Skill development will also focus on: excision of peritoneal endometriosis. Excision of DIE: bowel, bladder, ureter, vagina with defect repair. Unlocking the obliterated pelvis. Cystoscopy with stent placement. Re-anastomosis of the ureter, bowel. Knowledge focus will be on: risk management, informed consent, disclosure of error, injury recognition, clinical outcomes assessment, epidemiology and statistics.

EFAMEC’s Comprehensive Training Curriculum for Transformative Skill Development

This 18-month, longitudinal program provides intensive, hands-on training using highly realistic, high-fidelity surgical simulation. Through supervised deliberate practice and repeated exposure to core and advanced MIGS procedures — including endometriosis excision — you’ll build the skills depth, surgical precision, and confidence needed to manage complex gynecologic surgeries and become an exceptional MIGS surgeon.

Convenient Scheduling for the Busy Practitioner

• In-person training: Ten 3-day weekends (Friday–Sunday) held every other month over 18 months: Sessions #1 – #10
  – 230 hours of intensive, hands-on, high-fidelity simulation

• Remote training: Eight Saturday sessions featuring didactic and hands-on components during in-person interval months

• First session completed: January 9–11, 2026

• Second session completed: March 20–22, 2026

• Third session completed: May 15–17, 2026

• Fourth session completed: July 10–12, 2026

• Next 2026 sessions: September 18–20, November 13–15, January 8–10

Educational Highlights

Small Cohorts: Train in groups of up to six surgeons, guided by an expert endometriosis surgeon through continuous, supervised deliberate practice.

Expert Mentorship: The same expert will provide longitudinal instruction for the entire 18 months (in-person and remote sessions) and will be a resource for you in the development of your advanced MIGS and endometriosis excision practice.

Comprehensive Online Syllabus: Access a complete MIGS and endometriosis curriculum for ongoing study.

At-Home Skills Training: Complete 150 logged hours of laparoscopic practice using your own HD camera system and Training Dome (see the Gynecase).

OR Observation and Site Visits: Fellows will observe performance of endometriosis expert excision and conversely will host an observational OR site-visit for their mentor.

Professional Certifications: Earn FLS and EMIGS certification and sit for the ABOG MIGS Specialty Designation exam.

Cost

Total Direct Training Hours: 294 (In-person 230 hrs, remote 64 hrs)

Total Additional Assignment and Logged Practice Hours: 225 hrs

Tuition: $35,000 ($67/hr)

Additional Direct Costs: Purchase of Gynecase training platform for $5500 ($3500 Rebate on completion of the Fellowship).

Note: Gynesim is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians enrolled in this and all Fellowship direct training activities (Session #1 -#10 including remote training interim month sessions).

As well, diplomates who complete this approved simulation activity are eligible to receive Part IV Practice Improvement credit for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) Continuing Certification (CC) program.
